About Our Approach; Activity Based Therapy(ABT)
Traditional therapy often focuses on muscles already strong enough for current function. Our approach strengthens areas below and around the injury, stimulates neuroplasticity, and reorganizes neurological connections to maximize recovery and independence.
We provide:
- Patterned motor activity & task-specific functional training
- Gravitational loading & core stability work
- Targeted activation of non-innervated muscles
- Endurance and overall wellness program
Bridge the Gap Between Therapy and Fitness
Our facility is fully accessible and stocked with advanced rehab equipment: Total Gyms, tilt tables, standing frames, SCIFIT arm ergometer, NuStep, Smith machine, parallel bars, Rifton gait trainer, Hoyer lift, Myolyn FES bike, treadmill, and more.
Our body-weight support harness system allows safe unweighting for treadmill, elliptical, VersaClimber, parallel bars, and overground training. Every session is guided by Neuro Fitness Specialists who provide personalized, hands-on facilitation for recovery.

"Absolutely recommend. Refreshing approach to helping those with challenges reclaim a sense of self and purpose. Staff is very professional, dedicated, funny, open to feedback, and empathetic, while balancing the ability to push you to be your best! I look forward to discovering what I can learn at BTI Rehab and what I can do to support their growth as well."
-B.R.

"I have been going to Back to Independence for a few months after being discharged from outpatient rehab therapy at Carolina Medical Center. I had a brain hemorrhage stroke. I needed therapy to continue to help me make further recovery progress. The therapists at BTI have been wonderful and know what I need to do to continue in my recovery. I enjoy all of the therapists and feel that they have become friends as well as teachers. I highly recommend BTI."
-G.B.

"BTI Rehab provides aquatic therapy to my daughter. The therapy has been so helpful to her and she enjoys it too! Each session includes water walking, stretching, kicking, floating, balance, and core exercises. The therapists and trainers are great with special needs clients. They also helped us get grant funding to support the therapy. Thank you BTI Rehab!!!"
